Websites
Before you rebuild your website
A new website starts with decisions about the audience and the work the site should do. The framework comes later.
Define the problem
Is the site difficult to update, unclear to prospective customers or poorly connected to sales? Name the problem so the rebuild has a useful objective.
Inventory what already matters
Review important pages, articles, product information and existing URLs. A redesign should not discard useful content or break the paths people already use.
Plan for the people who publish
The team needs a workable way to write, review and update content. Test that workflow before committing to a CMS.
Agree the next step
Know who receives enquiries, how they are recorded and what happens after a visitor sends one. The website is part of a wider sales process.
